I’m not the only one enjoying this summery weather. Great to see some of the garter snake family that shares our spot out basking in the bushes. The gray tree frogs have been trilling too. We strive to make our little acre as inviting as possible! #backyardwildlife #gartersnake #herp

It’s #nationalparkweek! We took a happy little detour on our way to Vancouver Island last week and saw a bit of Olympic National Park. Stunning forests and skylines, and some lovely spring flowers—trillium, violets, bleeding heart and skunk cabbage! #olympicnationalpark #wildflowers

My dad and I share a love of herps and as my interest and dedication has grown, so has his. Some years ago he turned the pool into a pond. At first it had a nice clean gravel bottom, and different sections for plants so you could still wade in if you wanted to. Well, he started to let it naturalize, then managed specifically for amphibians, and now it teems with life! Last night we saw probably 30 large spotted salamanders in it. Just one egg mass so far but there may be more by now. Some of them looked BIG! 💚💚💚 #herps #spottedsalamander #vernalpool
